Active SERE Kit Method: Wristwatch

This SERE kit method relies on concealing extremely low profile yet high impact items inside the clasp of a watch bracelet as a set-it-and-forget-it loadout.

The bracelet is then “invisibly” secured with a hidden locking mechanism so only the wearer knows how to remove the watch. Otherwise the watch bracelet would have to be broken off to remove by force.

Ref 116610 was used. The watch’s “Oyster” bracelet is ideal because of how the clasp is designed, providing just the right amount of space for the 5 items it conceals.

              SERE Kit Contents

Due to the limited space available, the chosen items for this kit has to be useful and fit perfectly together in the exacting dimensions of the watch clasp.

The whole kit fits snugly without slack and will not fall out by accident even if the clasp is open. Which is ideal for when removing an item without looking and while still wearing the watch.

The prototype universal handcuff is designed specifically for this, of which is spring-loaded so you can eject it out quickly with ease when needed.

Two 1 gram gold bullion and a single 1 gram platinum bullion is encased in a flexible laminate that also keeps it firmly in place – it must be pulled out to remove.

Under the precious metals is a micro SD card (digital go-bag) ideally with encrypted files hidden among thousands of filler files; ID documents, contacts, crypto private keys, credentials, etc.

              Hidden Locking Mechanism

This imperceptible “lock” method makes it impossible to unlock the watch clasp without completely breaking the bracelet off of the watch. But to the user, it can be unlocked easily by releasing the “lock”.

              Security Capability

In the event of an illegal / illicit detainment (kidnapping, torture etc.), then the assailants will no doubt take the watch for themselves (as supposed to honest police making a legitimate arrest), which is why this lock exists.

This security measure will work when the assailant(s) are pressed for time, as it will take tools and effort to remove the watch. But if time is not a concern, then this lock method will just delay the inevitable.

In that case, you can remove the SERE contents and rehide them somewhere else when possible; alternate hiding spot, in your mouth, swallowing, rectal etc.
